RECOACTIV® Immune Tonic for cats is an appetite-stimulating complementary dietetic feed for nutritional restoration. It is intended for poorly eating and weakened cats after malaise, illness or surgery, and for cats with hepatic lipidosis. RECOACTIV® Immune promotes appetite, supplies the animals with sufficient fluid and provides easily digestible proteins, vitamins and trace elements. Because it is liquid, urgently needed nutrients can still be taken in when there are problems with the teeth, gums, mouth or throat.

The tonic is very well tolerated and, thanks to its consistency, is absorbed effectively in the intestine. It stimulates food intake during illness and convalescence as well as in general loss of appetite, and helps prevent deficiencies.

Why cats stop eating

Loss of appetite is common in cats and has many causes. High temperatures or a new food can cause a temporary dip, but other reasons are more serious. If pain or an underlying medical condition is involved, a veterinarian should always be consulted.

Why it is critical when cats do not eat for a long time

Unlike dogs, ongoing food refusal is critical in cats. Cats are carnivores and mainly eat prey and its proteins. If this protein supply stops because feeding is reduced or stopped, the metabolism draws on the body’s own fat reserves.

Because cats cannot adapt this process well, the released fat is not fully broken down into energy and accumulates in the liver. Prolonged fasting can lead to hepatic lipidosis, a life-threatening fatty liver.

In this situation the cat must be given plenty of fluid and energy as quickly as possible — in extreme cases by assisted feeding. Prompt food intake is essential for recovery. Regular feeding is vital for cats’ health; moist food with high-quality proteins and without cereals is preferable.

Feeding recommendation

An adult cat per kg of body weight receives 5ml daily (1 tablespoon or 10ml in the measuring cup). In the case of acute food crisis 3x daily, until the animal returns to normal feeding behavior. The RECOACTIV® Immune Tonicum can be administered pure or through the diet. At room temperature, acceptance is highest and is recommended especially if the cat eats insufficiently.

In the case of critical food refusal, it has been proven to successively have the tonicum swallowed by the finger or added to the mouth by syringe (without cannula!) until the animal has become accustomed to the tonicum and the appetite returns. The dosage is daily 5 ml per kg of body weight (e.g. 15 ml for a 3 kg cat). In acute phases and loss of appetite: up to 3 x daily.

If necessary, the product can be given permanently.
